your next SPELLBINDING activity
Let’s create a fun, refreshing, intriguing afternoon for your residents.
MEANINGFUL MAGIC
As an Activity Coordinator, finding fresh and engaging activities that appeals to everyone can be a real challenge. While singers and musical acts are always popular, residents also enjoy experiencing something different. A live magic show offers a refreshing, interactive activity that captures attention, sparks curiosity, and encourages residents to get involved from the very beginning.
My performances are designed to be inclusive, relaxed, and full of laughter, creating a shared experience that brings residents, staff, and visiting families together. Magic naturally starts conversations, encourages social interaction, and creates meaningful moments that continue long after the show has finished.
Residents are invited to volunteer, make choices, and even become part of the magic itself, helping everyone feel involved regardless of their mobility or ability. The sense of wonder, surprise, and achievement that comes from participating can help boost confidence, stimulate the mind, and bring genuine joy to the room.
Whether you're planning a special celebration, family visiting day, or simply looking to offer residents something refreshingly different, a magic show provides memorable entertainment that leaves people smiling, talking, and looking forward to the next magical moment.
WHO AM I?
My name is Danny Lee Grew, I am a professional magician with over a decade of experience. Before performing full-time, I worked in the NHS as a Clinical Support Officer, assisting in procedures and minor surgery. I practiced magic on colleagues and patients whilst building up my magic business outside of my NHS hours. Using annual leave, I was able to fulfill 100 shows a year before taking the leap, leaving my NHS job to make magic my full time profession.

Frequently Asked Questions

My magic takes me all over the UK, with many performances take place during the evenings in theatres and holiday resorts. Being away from home, and with lots of spare time on my hands during the day, I decided offer my magic show to care and residential homes for a reasonable rate.
I love magic and want to share it with as many people as possible, plus it provide something different and unique as a daytime activity.
-
In my experience, 45 minutes is best, however shorter or longer sets can be requested.
-
I don’t need much space at all. Just a spot to stand and perform where all residents can see clearly. I also need 1 plug socket to plug my small PA system so that the residents can hear clearly.
-
I arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled showtime. This will give you ample time to scan DBS, ID, public liability insurance. The show itself takes less than 20 minutes.
-
During the pandemic, I developed a full show that was compliant with the rules. A fully socially distanced magic show that required no volunteers, and can be performed if the residents prefer to just watch. At no point during my visit do I poke fun, humiliate, or patronise residents or staff on or off the stage. It is a safe space.

You can either pay by Cash, Card or BACS bank transfer.

A former NHS employee, Danny Lee Grew worked as a clinical support officer, assisting in procedures, minor surgery, and literally wrapping patients in bandages. He practiced his magic on colleagues and patients before taking the plunge and making magic his full-time profession.
The gamble paid off and he has entertained audiences globally, on television, in theatres and at high profile corporate events, where famous faces such as David Beckham, Pink, Chris Hemsworth, Stormzy, and James Corden have all enjoyed Danny’s magic.
In 2024, Danny became the Stage Magician of the Year at the International Brotherhood of Magicians British Ring; and in 2025, they presented Danny with the Theo Speaker Cup. His television credits include Channel 5’s Summer by the Sea with Susan Calman and ITV’s The Real Stories of the Social Network.
